N or M?: A Tommy and Tuppence Mystery, by Agatha Christie

Set during World War II, Agatha Christie’s riveting novel in her Tommy and Tuppence series follows the unlikely espionage agents as they pursue a pair of Nazi spies who have murdered Britain’s top agent—now a movie on both Acorn TV and PBS.

World War II is raging, and while the RAF struggles to keep the Luftwaffe at bay, Britain faces a sinister threat from "the enemy within"—Nazis posing as ordinary citizens.

With pressure mounting, the intelligence service appoints two improbable spies, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford. Their mission: to seek out a man and a woman from among the colorful guests at Sans Souci, a seaside hotel. But this assignment is far from an easy stroll along the promenade—N and M have just murdered Britain's finest agent and no one can be trusted.

From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. James Warwick delivers a virtuoso performance in this rendition of Agatha Christie's spy thriller. As WWII spreads across Europe, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, former British Intelligence agents and a married couple, are enlisted to uncover Nazi spies at Sans Souci, a hotel in Leahampton. Taking on assumed identities, Tommy and Tuppence arrive at Sans Souci, where they must search for the German agents—known only as N and M—navigate a hotel full of suspicious guests, preserve their secret identities, and, above all else, defend national security. Warwick's portrayals of Tommy and Tuppence are spot-on, as is his evocation of life in a small English hotel in 1940s England. As the story unfolds and each new character—male, female, English, German, adult and child alike—is introduced, Warwick outdoes himself, producing one unique voice after another in an energetic and fully committed performance. A must for Christie fans and devotees of spy stories and cozy mysteries. A Signet paperback. (Feb.)

From Library Journal
Middle-aged Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, too old to fight and too young to knit, are dismayed to find out that the British government of World War II has little interest in their detecting and spy-catching abilities. Then, almost incidentally, they are asked to spot a traitor, believed to be living at a rural guesthouse. But the place is full of harmless eccentrics: elderly ladies, retired military men, a hypochondriac and his colorless wife, a young mother, and a German refugee. The Beresfords invent personalities and elaborate traps, identify the imposter, and prevent an invasion. The strengths of this Christie "cozy" are the exuberant charm, intelligence, and enthusiasms of the central characters. Middle-aged they may be, but inside Tommy and Tuppence are still the same young adventurers who chased criminals and spies in post-Great War London. James Warwick does a highly competent, nicely unobtrusive job of reading this title, which is likely to be popular with fans of golden age mysteries. Recommended for moderate to large public libraries. I. Pour-El, Des Moines Area Community Coll., Boone, IA

Review
Praise for Agatha Christie: “Agatha Christie proves that if you really are good enough, you can break all the ‘rules’ and still come up with a winner.” (Anne Perry, New York Times bestselling author of the Thomas Pitt and William Monk series of Victorian mysteries)

“As ingenious as ever.” (The Guardian)

Outstanding piece of wartime fiction!
By A Customer
Normally Agatha Christie chooses to focus on the mysteries and not really concentrate on political and social events of that period; consequently her characters sometimes seem to be living in a vaccuum, removed from all that is happening around them. What makes "N or M?" unusual is that Christie chose to focus on WWII and what was happening in England at that time. Tommy and Tuppence who are living quietly in London suddenly find their routine interrupted when Tommy is called away on a secret assignment to try and find Hitler's most dangerous agent who has infiltrated England in advance of a planned attack by the Nazis. Of course, Tuppence who refuses to be left out of anything, follows him and actively helps him while posing as a garrulous widow. The book is more powerful than most because of the very real sense of menace that Christie creates and the feeling of evil lurking in the air. Wingding suspense and a knock-out ending - the only flaw was the focus on romance. Normally, it is nice to have a romantic attachment develop in Christie's books as they provide a nice relief to the mystery, but in this case I thought she should have concentrated only on the mystery; romance is almost superfluous in such a setting. It's interesting to think that while Tommy and Tuppence never actually existed, there may have been characters like them - ordinary people who possessed above-average intelligence who were picked to lead dangerous spy missions and who succeeded precisely because they were so ordinary and therefore not what the enemy was expecting.

Enjoyable Spy Thriller
By Gary F. Taylor
When one thinks of Agatha Christie, one usually thinks of novels in which a sharp-minded detective--such as Hercule Poirot or Jane Marple--unravels a tightly plotted puzzle from the comfortable safety of an arm chair. But Christie sometimes defies this concept of her work with a spy-thriller, and N OR M?, set during the early days of World War II, is among her best efforts in that direction.
The novel re-introduces husband and wife Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, characters Christie originally created for the much earlier spy-thriller THE SECRET ADVERSARY--and they are among her most immediately likable protagonists: quick witted, snappy, and unwilling to sit in an armchair when they can be up and doing things. Although they have been long out of the espionage game, when rumors indicate that one of Hitler's most trusted agents has arrived in England. they are sent to a small coastal boarding house in an effort to unmask the spy who might be hiding among the apparently innocent residents.
Readers will enjoy becoming reacquainted with Tommy and Tuppence, who Christie presents with considerable charm--and unlike the other novels in which they appear N OR M? is as much mystery as pure adventure: the book contains one of Christie's trademark twists at the conclusion. Although somewhat mild by the standards of her more famous novels, Christie endows the tale with a subtle sense of menace that serves it well; fans will enjoy the book, and newcomers will have a good time too.

awesome!
By green twistie eater
i have been borrowing a couple of her books from the library after a long hiatus of 5-6 years. n or m is my first introduction to tommy and tuppence, and i must say they are a light-hearted, action-oriented departure from christie's other investigators, who give the impression of spending a lot of time in situ, whether at the murder scenes or comtemplating the case. christie veers from teh pack in her stubborn regard for the facts and teh circumstances; i have never done any professional spying, but i imagine if i did that i could take a few hints from her detailed analysis of how her characters think and act. so many detectives in detective novels strike you as so ordinary - some are not even very smart - but in this book you see the true complexity of wartime counter-espionage come to life, all the more frightening because it lurks beneath a veneer of everyday monotony. i love how she injects obscure words now and then...reminds you of a time when people didn't just use er..awesome as an umbrella expression for pleasure!

Captivating Read
By Patti Patten-Carlen
I was captivated by this book. It was easy to fall in love with the characters and with Tracy Kincaid's style of writing. I was able to visualize not only the characters, but also the senic surroundings, right down to the change in Seasons. I do not want to give away too much as there are several surprises in the book. We have a double love story going on and the journey that the love story takes will speak to your heart. I can certainly hope that there will be more in store for the characters in future writings. Being a Civil War buff, this story captured my imagination and attention from chapter one. The Finny's and the Wilk's are quite a family and love was certainly in the air in Gettsyburg!

Beautiful story!
By Jessica Dingus
This was a great historical romance with a paranormal element. I like how the author set up the supporting details to provide hints before confirming the reader's predictions. The historical part reminded me of Beloved Enemy by Al Lacy, another historical romance. The paranormal aspect reminded me of The Bridge of Deaths by M.C.V Egan. All of the characters were well developed. It felt like they were almost just as close family as they were to Sarah. Anyone from a small town or anyone who has watched shows about small communities where everyone knows everyone and always pitches in to help will definitely appreciate this book.

Great read.
By Book Lover
Sarah, an artist commissioned to paint the Gettysburg battlefield, comes across Bruce, an injured park ranger, whom she helps. Thrown together, an attraction between them blooms as they discover together a far more ancient connection when they research their family trees. This is a wonderful read in a setting that is brought alive with consummate skill in all its seasons. I'd also rate it as a two Kleenex box read as it does have weepy moments that are intrinsic to this stunning tale. I hope there is going to be more books from this author as I would definitely like to read more.

Murder at Manassas: The Harrison Raines Civil War Mysteries, by Michael Kilian

A Southern gambler hunts a killer in the thick of the first great battle of the Civil War.

It's July 1861, and both the Union and Confederate armies expect to win the war within 24 hours. For Harrison Raines, a Southern dandy ensconced in DC society, it's time to choose a side. Though Raines loves Virginia, he hates slavery with a passion. And joining either army would mean leaving Washington and deserting the beautiful Caitlin Howard, a British actress whose heart, sadly, lies with the eccentric thespian John Wilkes Booth. For Caitlin's sake, Raines attempts to remain neutral in a time when neutrality means death.

On the morning of the battle, Raines escorts Caitlin to watch the carnage firsthand. When the First Battle of Bull Run turns into a rout, he sees one major fighting to rally his troops - a major who is later found dead far behind Union lines, branded a deserter. To clear the dead man's reputation, Raines must solve a murder as bullets continue to fly.

Murder at Manassas is the first book in the Harrison Raines Civil War Mysteries, but you may enjoy the series in any order.

Wonderful Historical detail--average mystery
By booksforabuck
In an effort to curry favor with Caitlin (his love but not, alas, his lover) Harrison Raines joins the throngs of Washington D.C. residents who plan to see the rebellion broken and the Union restored. The (First) Battle of Bull Run/Manassas turns out differently, however. In the retreat, a Union Major is killed--well out of range from Rebel forces. Raines is called on to solve the mystery, keep his lady's favor by protecting her friends, and keep himself from being arrested as a spy.
The historical details in MURDER AT MANASSAS are both convincing and well integrated into the novel. As a former Washington resident, it is enjoyable to read about the city as it was then, and compare it to what it is now (in many ways it hasn't changed a great deal).
Where the novel fell short was in the mystery and in the characters themselves. Other than Raines, I did not feel that any of the characters were fully developed. Instead, they were caricatures playing a role and then vanishing. Raines' obsession with Caitlin was not especially sympathetic, reducing the readers understanding of Raines' motivations.
After a lengthy and exciting set of investigations, Michael Kilian wraps up the mystery rather abruptly and, to my mind, unsatisfactorally. That said, overall, I enjoyed this book and would strongly recommend it to mystery fans with an interest in the American Civil War or in Washington D.C.

A Murder Mystery Washingtonians Will Love
By Ray Johnston
MURDER AT MANASSAS is an especial treat for people familiar with the Washington, D.C. area.
Michael Kilian has faithfully recreated what the city, its residents, politicians, soldiers, and Civil War culture were like in the 1860's.
As a former American History teacher, I couldn't put Murder at Manassas down. I'm looking forward to upcoming titles based on other Civil War battles.
Kilian does a great job of researching the era and setting for his novels as both MURDER AT MANASSAS and MAJOR WASHINGTON demonstrate. He works a lot of historical people into his fiction, fleshing out characters you know such as John Wilkes Booth and others who may be new to you such as Confederate spy Belle Boyd.
A quick and enjoyable read.

Super Start to Historical Series
By Mark Baker - Carstairs Considers
Harrison Raines has found himself in a hard spot. A Virginia native, he's loyal to his state and family. But he also opposes slavery. Living in Washington doesn't make finding his desired neutrality any easier to find.
When a friend insists on going to watch the first, and certainly the only, battle in the Civil War, Harry reluctantly accompanies her. Instead of a quick victory, they are shocked when the Union soldiers flee right past them. The next morning, the retreat is being blamed on one Major shot down during the last moments of the battle. But Harry is convinced that the man was really murdered. He's hired by the man's family to learn the truth and redeem his name. With his carefully guarded neutrality on the line, Harry sets out to find the truth, wherever that may lead, including a smuggling plot that the victim may have been involved with.
I was very impressed with this mystery debut. The story is obviously well researched; I was completely transported back to 1861 while reading it. The plot moves forward at a leisurely pace, but throws some great twists in as the story progresses. Still, it is possible to follow exact what happens if you're paying attention. The characters were interesting and realistic, and the use of real people added just the right amount of fun to the proceedings without being too far fetched.
As a fan of US history, I'm looking forward to more books in this series that is part mystery and part political intrigue. The mix looks to be just right for many more entertaining books.

Review
One of a great series, Timetable of Death is a classic example of a Victorian police detective story. Filled with period detail, the pace is steady and the plot is thick with suspects, solutions and clues. Marston has a real knack for blending detail, character and story with great skill. Reading this as a stand-alone case, the reader will be compelled to get further cases of the “Railway Detective”. (Historical Novels Review)

***NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLER*** "Will grab your heart on page one and won't let go until the end."    --Sara Gruen, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Water for Elephants  On a cold night in October 1937, searchlights cut through the darkness around Alcatraz. A prison guard's only daughter--one of the youngest civilians who lives on the island--has gone missing. Tending the warden's greenhouse, convicted bank robber Tommy Capello waits anxiously. Only he knows the truth about the little girl's whereabouts, and that both of their lives depend on the search's outcome.

Almost two decades earlier and thousands of miles away, a young boy named Shanley Keagan ekes out a living as an aspiring vaudevillian in Dublin pubs. Talented and shrewd, Shan dreams of shedding his dingy existence and finding his real father in America. The chance finally comes to cross the Atlantic, but when tragedy strikes, Shan must summon all his ingenuity to forge a new life in a volatile and foreign world.

Skillfully weaving these two stories, Kristina McMorris delivers a compelling novel that moves from Ireland to New York to San Francisco Bay. As her finely crafted characters discover the true nature of loyalty, sacrifice, and betrayal, they are forced to confront the lies we tell--and believe--in order to survive.

From Publishers Weekly
McMorris (The Pieces We Keep) subverts the rags-to-riches immigrant story in this breezy tale set between Ireland and Alcatraz. In the preface, we meet inmate 257 of Alcatraz before the story opens years earlier in Ireland when young Shanley Keagan, orphaned and scraping by with his drunken uncle, discovers he has an American father. They set off to find him, but Shan's uncle dies in transit, leaving Shan to fend for himself. Fortunately, the Capellos, an Italian family on the ship, take an interest, although the tradeoff is that Shan must give up his name and become a Capello. The story makes for compulsive reading as it jumps between Shan's youth and young adulthood, touching on such diverse underworlds as the Black Hand mafia, which Shan becomes entangled with when he joins the Capellos, and the Vaudeville life, which he aspires to join as a performer and comic. There is a lot to cover however, and at times Shan's character as presented to the reader – sensitive, loyal, and passive– contrasts rather unconvincingly with how others characters perceive him – tough and ruthless, but this is still an intricate and intriguing entry into the American immigrant canon. Two powerful stories intertwined. Impeccably researched. A story of second chances, hope, love, and sacrifice.
By Judith D. Collins
A special thank you to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 4.5 Stars

Kristina McMorris skillfully delivers an impeccably researched and compelling novel, AT THE EDGE OF LOST, a blending of historical fact and fiction---ultimately, a story of second chances, hope, love, forgiveness and sacrifice.

As the book opens on Alcatraz Island, Oct 1937, an inmate (Capello) inside the warden’s greenhouse strains to listen. A little girl ten years old has gone missing. A prison guard's only daughter has gone missing as we venture back a decade, to learn the history of a man, prior to becoming a convicted bank robber, and coming to America.

In Dublin, Ireland in 1919, we meet (Shan) Shanley Keagan. Orphaned at twelve, he goes to live with his abusive uncle Will, and works at the pub, as a gifted performer. However, his life takes a different turn, when he discovers a letter of his mom’s from an American father, he never knew. You feel for the boy, handing the money to his cruel uncle who spends it at the local pub.

At a young age Shan quickly learns to adapt to his surroundings, depending on humor and making people laugh. The dreams and hopes of a small boy to come to America. Some of these elements served him well, later on in life, a protective shield when subjected to a cold crowd.

As he travels to America he meets an Italian-American family, the Capellos, who take him in. He is loyal and grateful to this warm family for giving him a start. Later he becomes involved in a crime while trying to save Nick and winds up in Alcatraz prison in San Francisco. (you will root for Shan, and fall in love with his character).

The past and present collide, engaging you with a wide variety of emotions from life experiences of sorrow, adversity, secrets, loyalty, love, and redemption. Deeply held secrets and deception, and debts to pay---surround the characters, each with a purpose for withholding the truth, some in order to survive. What a journey—hard to put this one down!

McMorris does an outstanding job with the research of Alcatraz, Al Capone, the Capellos, and the Italian immigrant families, as well as her own experiences, and hands on research with her night tours, she mentions in her author’s notes - enhancing the overall experience. There has always been much mystery and intrigue over the years, behind he Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary (Alcatraz) –the maximum high-security Federal prison, operating from 1934 to 1963. The author writes a beautiful story balancing the good and the bad, weaving the connecting stories. After reading had to research more, which I found fascinating.

As the author mentions, she typically sets her books in the 40s, and this time she is tackling the 20s and 30s, which she transitions with ease; from superior character development, and vivid settings, drawing you into the place, time, and emotions. A powerful story, and deeply moving, infused with elements from the Roaring Twenties, gangsters, the Irish pubs in Dublin, Ireland, rich with whiskey and smoky cigarettes, to Bronx supper clubs, and burlesque shows, to prisons-- two stories of diversity from, Ireland to New York to San Francisco Bay.

An idea choice for book clubs and discussions (a nice reading group guide included). Historical fiction fans will love the satisfying ending. A very fitting title and cover! I enjoyed the book so much, I also pre-ordered the audio, as well. Looking forward to listening.

Interesting historical/literary fiction, just not the story I was expecting
By Kate Unger
This book was not at all what I was expecting based on the description. I was so excited to learn about civilians living on Alcatraz. I didn't even know that happened until reading about this book. Unfortunately, McMorris' tale is really a slow narrative about Shan Keagan, an Irish boy who immigrates to the U.S. in 1919. His uncle dies on the boat over, so he's taken in by an Italian family while he searches for his birth father.

The story follows Shan over the next 20 years, but he doesn't end up in prison on Alcatraz until the last quarter of the book. And the portion of the plot involving the young girl is very brief. I was disappointed. This isn't a bad book. It's just not at all what I was hoping to read.

Based on the description I also thought the story might be told in alternating time periods or by using flashbacks, but other than a short prologue, the story is laid out linearly. Based on the author's note, she seems to have set out to tell a story about Alcatraz, so a different approach may have better suited that goal.

I enjoyed some elements of the story, but overall I found it to be too slow and too descriptive. I would classify this book as literary fiction, as well as historical fiction, and I don't particularly care for overly detailed prose.

Mesmerizing story of survival
By SUSAN PETERSON
The Edge of Lost is a gripping story, beginning with the prologue, when we first meet Tommy Capello, an inmate at Alcatraz in 1937. A search is going on for a missing girl, and somehow Tommy is involved, setting the stage for an intriguing story which spans continents and decades. When we first meet Shanley Keagan, he is an 11-year-old orphan, eking out a living for he and his uncle by singing and performing in Dublin pubs. It's a hardscrabble life, and eventually Shan and his uncle make their way to America, where Shan hopes to be reunited with his real father. But tragedy strikes on their journey, and the young boy has to use his cunning and ingenuity to forge a new life in New York, a world that comes with a new set of challenges and dangers. As Shan's story unfolds, we are taken on an emotional journey to Dublin, NY, Leavenworth, and finally, Alcatraz. It takes the reader through the gritty worlds of vaudeville, burlesque, prohibition and organized crime. But mostly it is the story of a smart, talented young man, who has had to deal with adversity and loss throughout his young life; a story of hardship, survival, family, and loyalty. This book will grab your heart and soul, and you will not want to stop reading once you start. It is a compelling, heart-wrenching, and mesmerizing book.

little country, big history
By Joe
My mom was born in Malta which is the only reason I decided to stop there on my European vacation lastyear. I was fascinated to learn of how this tiny island country has so dramatically impacted the course of history. This is an excellent accounting of one of the most important events in the islands history, and the history of western civilization. Historical facts told in a narrative novel style make it a great read. It should be picked up as a major motion picture!

The Medici Letters: The Secret Origins of the Renaissance, by Taylor Buck

A shocking ancient secret. The origins of western civilization discovered. The Renaissance—our most fundamental age of technological and artistic advance, was built upon a secret passed down to a banking family in Florence—the Medici. 500 years ago that secret was buried. Florence, Italy, present day. A trove of letters belonging to the Medici family is discovered underground. Archaeologist Kat Cullen comes across a map that leads her to the Swiss Alps where her partner is murdered and she is left for dead. Kat’s husband, professor and classicist—Jack Cullen, rushes to investigate. He joins with Chester Allen, a scientist from surveillance enterprise TerraTEK Industries, and together they begin to unravel the mystery of the Medici letters in hopes of determining what happened in the Alps. As they dig deeper, Jack stumbles across a secret—the infamous Medici treasure is real. However, word gets out and Jack soon realizes he’s not the only one interested in finding it…a deadly and elusive assassin attempts to seize control, throwing Jack into a series of harrowing escapades—riding horseback through the streets of Siena, discovering clues inside ancient cathedrals, deciphering 500 year-old cryptosystems and navigating an underground labyrinth in order to solve a secret so powerful it could change the world forever. This fast-paced adventure blends together a modern-day treasure hunt with historic accounts of Lorenzo de’Medici in Renaissance Florence in an international thriller with plenty of dark twists and exciting turns.

Do I recommend this book? You "Letter" believe it! @badwordplay
By Owen Robinson
Archaeologist Kat Cullen is researching 14th century family, the Medici’s, when she comes across a cache of letters and documents belonging to them. Among those pages is a map that leads her to the Alps, where her partner is murdered, and she is left for dead. Her husband, Jack Cullen, and scientist Chester Allen, rush to uncover more of the Medici’s secrets hidden within the documents, to try and understand what has happened. What follows is an international thriller centered around this historic and powerful family, with actual world changing consequences.

To make comparisons to The DaVinci Code are at the same time obvious and a little unfair. Obvious, since it is an international mystery thriller centered around high profile historical figures, with wide sweeping ramifications. And Unfair, because who would want their book to be directly compared to such a popular book? But I have to say, despite being in the terrible spot of being compared to Dan Brown, this was a very enjoyable read. The Medici family was slightly familiar, but definitely less than Leonardo Da Vinci, so I had a lot of catching up to do in that regard. I enjoyed the historical aspects of the story as much as I did the current day action and thriller aspects, and I think they were seamlessly melded together to create an engaging read.

At the end of the day, I very much enjoyed this book. And while I do feel a little bit bad with all of the comparisons to the other book, at least The Medici Letters has good company.

Pros and cons
By Anne Hoff
The author of this book has a great depth of knowledge in the period of the Renaissance. He uses shifts in time between this period and the present to spin his plot. Unfortunately, the plausibility of the present does not live up to the standard set in the historical vignettes.
The real disappointment with this work is the complete lack of editing and the poor grammar of the author. Confusion between 'then' and 'than' is common in college students, with most of the errors being the use of 'then' as a comparative. This author manages to also use 'than' as a temporal indicator. Also very grating is his use of 'hone in on' when he means 'home in on'. The frequency of the grammatical glitches was very distracting, so much so that I would not read anything else Mr. Buck has written.

Great book that takes you on a journey back in history
By Hugh Kinnett
Taylor Buck did an excellent job on this book. It is about a part of history that really interest me which made the book a better read. It took me back to the fourteenth century. This is a book about a secret from that time that has recently been revealed. It seems like the author done extensive research to make sure the book was accurate as possible. This book is put together better than most books I read about history. This story kept me entertained from the beginning to the last page. It was definitely a page-turner. It was hard for me to lay down. If you like The Davinci Code or books similar to that you will love this book. I highly recommend the book to all the history buffs. I look forward to reading more books by Taylor Buck that take me back in history. This book was worth the read.

When Will Wright, the eighteen year old son of a small-town Arkansas sheep herder in 1905, begins reading his mother’s journal, he is inspired by its startling content to start putting his own experiences to paper for posterity. An unsophisticated but principled young man, Will is becoming increasingly aware of the hatred that exists in the world. When he begins his own journal, Will can’t know what events are to take place in the next five years – from his mother’s battle with a life threatening illness, to his embarrassments of learning how to be in love for the first time, to witnessing Charlie’s fate at the hands of the bigoted townspeople. While part of him wishes the pain in those pages didn’t exist, he knows that the original purpose for keeping the journal has been realized - to show his kin how he became the man he is. He will probably never go back through and read again the pages he’s written, but someday, someone will, and they will see that along with the hurt, Will’s life had been one that knew true joy, absolute love, and undying friendship

Beautifully written! I had a hard time putting the book down once I started it. I found myself loving certain characters right away, and almost hating others. The humor was genuine & subtle - sweet, funny moments that took me by surprise. The love story was so tender and romantic. 'Made me wish Hollywood could make movies this way. The tragedy was painful - lump in my throat initially, followed by tears. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the characters when the book ended. Hoping for a second book. :) Definitely one of my absolute favorite books. If you liked These is My Words, Take Me to the Willow is bound to be a good read for you.

This book had me spellbound. I found myself loving the way the author wrote it in a journal form. The speaking was genuine and an absolute adventure to read. This is historical fiction at its absolute best. Will became a dear friend. I felt like I watched him hurt, love, fight and grow in the experiences he recorded of his life. To find a stopping place in this wonderful book was next to impossible and to say that your soul will become involved is to state the obvious. Highly, highly recommended.
