Noah's Art, by J.B. Dukes

According to ancient prophetic books followed by over half the world's population, the greatest threat to mankind is not global warming...it's the Day of Reckoning. How extreme believers of different persuasions respond is need-to-know intelligence in the new security landscape.

Cassy Kim is being set up as a new kind of espionage device: brilliant analyst, emotionally compromised by the artful leader of a mystical Muslim sect obsessed with divine judgment. But while her background makes her a perfect post-modern spy, her handlers have underestimated her ability to pursue her own agenda. She needs redemption from her own unknown past.

What Cassy Kim discovers in Noah's Art will get you talking.

Listen to the first controversial novel in the Noah Brotherhood Trilogy: a trilogy about a shadowy Sufi sect tracked for over half a century and known only for the Jekyll-and-Hyde traces of virtue and violence that it leaves; that and its obsession with the first great judgment - Noah's flood - and the second great judgment to come.

Gripping, mystical, adventurous. A brilliant novel that cleverly plays with the hidden mysteries surrounding Noah's Ark, mixed with a deep sense of thrill and excitement, leaving you wanting to know more.
Great for both lovers of spy-thrillers and ancient/religious-mystery. Think along the lines of Da Vinci Code + John le Carre + Lisbeth Salander...

Stella Rimington spiked with David Mitchell
By Paul Letters
Noah’s Art is a spy story (think Stella Rimington spiked with David Mitchell) where British secret services toy with secret agent Cassy Kim, who in turn toys with them. It’s set primarily just before before 9/11, with some chapters based in earlier parts of the twentieth century. The timeline jumps around in a Mitchell-esque manner, and for the most part you’re not sure where you’re headed. There is a focus on the mystical Sufi aspect of Islam: unless you are at least an amateur theologian, the religious aspects of this novel will require your undivided attention.

I may be unusual: this is the sort of novel I call a ‘beach read’ (although others often seem to want something lighter for Bali or Benidorm or Barbados). It is a beach read, for me, because it requires one’s full attention – which is so much trickier when work, kids and insufficient sleep dominate life.

Rich in the sights, sounds and smells of far-flung locations, London, Morocco and Bangkok are beautifully described centres for the action. The dialogue and characterisation are more than convincing, with aspects of the personality of university expert Cassy Kim reminiscent of Truman Capote’s Holly Golightly (from Breakfast at Tiffany's).

If the novel has a weakness – and that would be in the eye of the beholder – it’s that the plot may be too convoluted for some. But if you like a good mystery, this novel is compelling.

So long as you enjoy a densely packed novel, give this novel your full attention – I recommend reading it within days or a couple of weeks, not months (for fear of losing the threads). Settle in and enjoy the ride.

steeped in notions of doomsday yet elusively stranding both good deeds and dangerous motives
By rachelle alterman
This book is a genre of its own. Written under a pseudonym by a high-raking academic, the book weaves together a mystery-yet-philosophy story composed of globally spanning threads. The hero is Dr. Kim, an academic herself in computer science. The book exposes the readers to secretive religions and cults operating around the world, steeped in notions of doomsday yet elusively stranding both good deeds and dangerous motives. We follow the hero in her intellectual-mathematical challenge to untangle the many knots for her own and her county’s safety before it is too late. Along the way, we encounter the fingerprints of the CIA, MI6 and the Mossad. Do the detailed descriptions of the many cities visited by the hero provide hints of the author’s academic expertise? Our own intellectual challenge is to try to guess the links with recent global events and conflicts, and eagerly to anticipate the second and third volumes in this brilliant, page-turning trilogy.

Worth the effort, but it's not an intuitive read
By Joanfmbb
It's a little tricky getting used to the format of the book. I recommend reading through it in advance. I used the book to help develop a plan for 4 days in Paris. There is interesting information in the book, which you have to look for. One example, at the Arch de triumph there is an elevator. When we got to the front of the line and the lady was ushering me into the staircase, I had the information! That alone was worth the price of the book.

There are neighborhood sections and restaurant sections, but it doesn't jump out at you. The maps are absolutely great. I also learned about museum passes and train passes and saved more th n the book cost by using the information. But I wish I had put more effort into the book to reap all the benefits. Maybe next time I am lucky enough to be in Paris.

Review

"A gripping debut about creativity, forbidden passions and what happens when you break the rules. Dorothy Richardson is a heroine for our time."--Daisy Goodwin, "New York Times" bestselling author of "The American Heiress
""This is a sparkling debut full of passion and verve. Louisa Treger has written an enthralling historical novel about unconventional love, unrecognised genius, and the courage to turn heartbreak into art."--Amanda Foreman, "New York Times" bestselling author of "The Duchess
""In this intriguing blend of fact and fiction, Treger's debut novel explores the socially unacceptable loves of little-read author Dorothy Richardson in early 20th-century London... Readers familiar with the period will recognize echoes of Virginia Woolf and Edith Wharton in Dorothy's views."--"Publishers Weekly
""Treger's writing flows easily and the book is impeccably researched, making this an enjoyable read. Dorothy Richardson may not be a household name, but Treger's novel does a fine job of showing just how compelling her life was in this novel full of passion, history and literature."--"Kirkus Reviews
"""The Lodger" is an evocative, beautifully written first novel. Set against the backdrop of the early 20th century, Louisa Treger conjures up her characters and the turbulence of an era when women were fighting for emancipation with conviction. Dorothy Richardson's journey to finding her own literary feet through her illicit relationship with the novelist HG Wells is moving and revealing. A very accomplished debut novel."--Lucinda Riley, "New York Times" bestselling author of "The Lavender Garden"

"A captivating and tender journey through the sexual explorations, loves and betrayals of Bloomsbury's Dorothy Richardson."--Frances Osborne, bestselling author of "The Bolter
""Louisa Treger has taken us into the heart of Dorothy Richardson's life choices through a vividly imagined novel, more compelling than any biography."--Michael Sherborne, author of "HG Wells: Another Kind of Life
"""The Lodger" is a narrative masterwork, and a milestone. You can trace with your finger round the globe, and especially, over English speaking countries find feminist authors rising like poppies and over taking every field of contemporary writing. This is due, in no small part to figures like Dorothy Richardson, who Treger fully recreates as a compelling soul, tortured by the constraints of her era and giving herself to the author, ironically, of "The Outline Of History.""--Charles Bane, Jr., author of "The Chapbook: Love Poems "and current nominee, Poet Laureate of Florida

Excellent
By Debra L. Martin
THE LODGER is an impressive debut for Ms. Treger. She weaves fact and fiction seamlessly in this story about 20th century writer Dorothy Richardson. Dorothy is determined to live freely on her own accord without being stifled within the bonds of marriage, but freedom has its price--hunger, oppressive loneliness and drudgery of another kind as she lives barely above poverty. It's no wonder that Dorothy falls under spell of H.G. Wells, the husband of her oldest friend. She struggles with her loyalty to Jane and the pull from the charismatic Bertie.

The author takes the reader inside the mind of Dorothy as she lives through crisis after crisis. Events of the suffragette movements sweep her up in the drama when her friend Veronica plans to march in a peaceful demonstration. Dorothy knows absolute bliss and abject depressions and Ms. Treger gives the reader a front row seat to both. Knowing that Dorothy was an important voice for women writers in the early 20th century makes this novel even more riveting. A slight criticism is that the author's descriptions tended to be a bit too long and took me out of the story. This is a powerful story of how one woman found her voice against seemingly impossible odds. Highly Recommended.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Beautifully written.
By serenasuna
This is a most beautifully written book. It is elegant, thoughtful, and an entertaining way of reading about the lives of the women surrounding HG Wells in such an intimate but historically accurate way.I bought the the Audible version and it is also so beautifully read that I was transported into the world of The Lodger for the entire time. I loved the insight ,in such detail ,of the lives of women in that period...to the extent how they felt in their clothes. Let alone the issues of woman in that time. Nevertheless many of the themes are universal and contemporary, about the price you pay for breaking the rules...and how to turn disaster and heartbreak into art. The research on every aspect of the story Louisa Tregar is dealing with ,is woven so elegantly into the book.
I loved the Audible version and can thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant fictional biograpghy!
By ADITI SAHA
Kami Garcia, a New York Times bestselling author has been quoted while saying:

“We don't get to chose what is true. We only get to choose what we do about it.”

Louisa Treger, an English author, has portrayed the life and times of a writer named, Dorothy Richardson, who was the peer of Virginia Woolf, lover of H.G. Wells, and ultimately got stuck between the crossfire’s of her past and a new era of unconventional world where she desires to be a writer of modernist fiction, in her debut novel, The Lodger.

Synopsis:
Dorothy exist just above the poverty line, doing secretarial work at a dentist's surgery and living in a seedy boarding house in Bloomsbury, when she is invited to spend the weekend with a childhood friend. Jane recently married a writer who is hovering on the brink of fame. His name is H.G. Wells or Bertie as he is known to friends.
Bertie appears unremarkable at first. But then Dorothy notices his grey-blue eyes taking her in, openly signaling approval. He tells her he and Jane has an agreement which allows them the freedom to take lovers, although Dorothy is not convinced her friend is happy with this arrangement.
Not wanting to betray Jane, yet unable to draw back, Dorothy free-falls into an affair with Bertie. Then a new boarder arrives at the house—striking unconventional Veronica Leslie-Jones, determined to live life on her own terms—and Dorothy finds herself caught between Veronica and Bertie. Amidst the personal dramas and wreckage of the militant suffragette movement, Dorothy finds her voice as a writer.

For a first time author, Treger's writing can be compared to any noteworthy author's work. Her prose is completely poetic and very polemical since she has crafted a fiction based on factual data and real life events! We have read so many biographies, but I never read such a profound biography which happens to be a fiction! Treger has painted the picturesque image of the late 20th century in London. From eating habits to sociopolitical changes, all were described very intricately. And from Dorothy's life, we get to see the hardships faced by a woman who chooses the road to independence rather than depending on a man and such women used to lead a life just above the poverty line. Whoever reads this book in this 21st century, can relate to Dorothy and may find Dorothy as a very striking character. Her fight to get a life of completely independence as a writer and as a lover and not bound by the marital strings can be very well apprehended the women of this century. But imagine how she struggled in a different century, when the society decided a women's fate rather than their brain and mouths.

Dorothy's relationship with the famous author, H.G. Wells is written with much compassion and vividness. Their physical encounters will not only stir you up but will also make you see the darkness behind their affair. Dorothy even develops feeling for another house guest of her best friend, Veronica, and the author has written this forbidden relationship with so much depth!

It's not only a novel about forbidden love stories and illicit love affairs, but it's about the women who were looked upon as out casted by the society during the 20th century. And Dorothy's illicit affair with Wells made her a writer, and she wrote 13 volumes of an autobiographical tale, Pilgrimage , which remains forgotten by us!

Louisa Treger has done enough research about her Dorothy character to deliver a brilliant yet subtle novel. She not only takes us back in time and place but also fills up us with a fire inside to understand the narrow-mindedness of a gender partial society. In one world, I can say that this novel is written with utmost passion thus resulting into something so riveting and evocative. This tale will not only make you think but it'll touch the very soul of your heart!

Verdict: You can't miss this deeply moving tale!

Joe finds himself in Quebec but it's no vacation. Alfred Hitchcock is shooting a suspenseful thriller called "I Confess" and Montgomery Clift is playing a priest accused of murder. A marriage made in heaven? Hardly. They have been at loggerheads since Day One and to make matters worse their feud is spilling out into the newspapers. When vivacious Jeanne D'Arcy, the director of the Quebec Film Commission volunteers to help calm the troubled waters, Joe thinks his troubles are over but that was before Jean got into a violent spat with a former lover and suddenly found herself under arrest on a charge of first degree murder. Guilty or not guilty? Half the clues say she did it, the other half say she is being brilliantly framed. But by who? Fingers point to the crooked Gonsalvo brothers who have ties to the Buffalo mafia family and when Joe gets too close to the truth, someone tries to shut him up… permanently. With the Archbishop threatening to shut down the production in the wake of the scandal, Joe finds himself torn between two loyalties.

I wouldn’t say I was a huge fan of Murder She Wrote but I liked it. It was cozy; it was nice; it had Angela Lansbury. So, when I saw Pray for Us Sinners by one of the writers from the show, I just couldn't turn it down. My reaction to it, though, is mixed. The parts of the novel concerning the making of the movie are well worth the read for anyone who is a fan of classic films (it is my opinion for what it's worth that I Confess is an underappreciated gem). I especially enjoyed the parts of the novel concerning the relationship between Montgomery Clift and Alfred Hitchcock.

However, when it came to the mystery itself, the novel left me somewhat dissatisfied. In fairness, most of that is really on me because I believe that historical mysteries should be somewhat accurate to time and place and the mystery here is much too modern for this particular time and place. Pray for Us Sinners is set in Quebec City in the early 1950s when the Church and provincial government had a very symbiotic relationship. Much of the story hinges on the desire of one of the characters for a divorce – simple point to move the story along only this would have been highly unlikely since, historically, divorce was, except in very rare instances, illegal in Quebec until 1968. If someone wanted out of a marriage, in most cases, they would have sought an annulment from the Church, not a divorce. I also question if the so-called proof of the heroine’s innocence would have played in Peoria in the 1950s, never mind Quebec. Heck, I’m not sure it would play in many places today.

However, I’m guessing that most people are not as obsessed as I am with the accuracy of historical trivia in novels and there are enough shoot-em-up car chases, plot twists and red herrings to make this a fun, fast read. Oh, and did I mention Montgomery Clift and Hitchcock!

PRAY FOR US SINNERS is the seventh in the Joe Bernardi series.
Joe, Alfred Hitchcock, Montgomery Clift, and Anne Baxter are in Quebec, Canada filming "I Confess". Joe balances taking care of assorted production, media, and actor problems with solving the murder of high profile defense attorney Daniel Bruckner.

PRAY FOR US SINNERS, set against the backdrop of Hitchcock and Montgomery Clift's difference difficulties while filming "I Confess" in Quebec, brings the glamour and mystique of old Hollywood to brilliant life.

Joe Bernardi works in the Press and Publicity Department of Warner Brothers Studios. Joe refers to himself as a feather merchant. He makes the stars brighter, runs interference, and fixes problems. Considering the egos and magnitude of those around him that's hardly an easy job even on a good day. Despite never having read any of the prior books I had no trouble following the characters nor did I ever feel at a loss. That being said, my curiosity has definitely been aroused about exactly who Bunny is and why she inspires such passion and devotion in Joe. I'll be searching out the first six to answer those questions.
The who and why of Daniel's murder was fairly predictable and easily solved; especially for those who read or watch a lot of mysteries. In all honesty it wasn't the mystery that kept me reading. What captured me was the treasure trove of wonderful characters, both real and created, the true life story surrounding the filming of "I Confess", and feeling I'd been transported to early 1950's Quebec.
PRAY FOR US SINNERS is nostalgia with a side of mystery.

Pray for Us Sinners-The Hollywood Murder Mysteries by Peter S. Fischer, Grove Point Press
By Ski-Wee's Book Corner
“War is being waged at Notre-Dame-des-Victories. This is not a battleground….this is a church in the center of Quebec City, Canada…At stake is not life…but the well being of a motion picture…..on one side we have Montgomery Clift…..on the other side, we have Alfred Hitchcock…the film is entitled “I Confess”.” And so begins this murder mystery novel as seen through the eyes of Joe Bernardi, a Press Agent, on location for Warner Studios. He narrates the fictional story with humor, sarcasm and preciseness.

Initially, he is searching for a former friend. “I hired Wiley to track down my former live-in, Bunny Lesher, who I had every intention of making my wife number two.” So tell me, how does Bernardi get involved in a murder mystery? “I’m Jeanne d’Arcy with the Quebec Province Film Commission and you’re my new assistant.” She is a beautiful redhead reminiscent of Rita Hayworth. When she is arrested for the murder of her boyfriend, Bernardi jumps into action to prove her innocence.

This novel reads like a classic black and white noir film. It is smooth, smart and sassy. You can imagine the main character narrating his unspoken thoughts as the story progresses. All that was missing was the suspenseful music.

Mr. Fischer has written a classy novel. It has all the mystery and ‘who-dunnit’ panache of a novel-to-movie screen in the making. If you love murder mysteries in true form, then this is the book for you. I recommend that all murder mystery fiction lovers grab a copy right away. Kudos! to you Mr. Fischer.

The End of Akhenaten Was Only the Beginning...
By Sheila R.
"The Pharaoh is dead!" Penthu, the Pharaoh's personal physician, gasped, storming unceremoniously into Aye's luxurious private
quarters.

Well, that got my attention! I have now read the complete trilogy, and the author started his final book with a bang. Pharaoh
Akhenaten is dead...and has left Egypt in shambles. I've read many novels about the Amarna period, but this one really
explored the politics of the now divided country, the destruction of the empire, and worst of all, the agony and rage of
the Egyptian people. The author nailed it! There are standout characters: Horemheb, the new (and scared) child Pharaoh,
the ruthless and manipulating Aye...even a gang of scumbag tomb robbers (with Egypt in such dire condition, corruption was
rampant)...oh yes, there is violence, but there is also unflagging loyalty, friendship, and love. The author has spun
a fine story - much of it based on true history. The battle within the royal family becomes truly lethal. But this is balanced
by the lonely physician Ipi and how he coped after losing the love of his life (his wife Sithathor)...toward the end of the
book, could it be possible that they may have ecstatically reunited in the afterlife? Sure!

There are some small problems: spelling errors, too many exclamation marks (for me), some awkward phrasing...but bear in mind
that English is not Mr. Kruisselbrink's first language. So, I blew off the problems and rolled with the story. This third book of his
trilogy is his best work... and written with passion. The author is getting better and better...and I'm looking
forward to his next novels.

One spy romanced and married her captor. Another, recruited by the Secret Service, packed a pistol and a hard punch. Antonia Ford and Pauline Cushman were as daring yet desirable as today’s action movie heroines. Breaking every rule of genteel society, they joined one side in the conflict while stealthily serving the other.

Pauline, an actress by trade, used her skills to enchant army officers as she gathered information on their troops, becoming the only female spy sentenced to hang. Her life—a medley of despair and triumph—was her best role. Antonia, an expert at reading infantry information, used her beauty, charm and character for her beloved cause. Despite dodging bullets and injury, she too was captured and imprisoned.

Each woman excelled in speaking for one side while acting for the other. Both earned the rank of “Major.” What could inspire two ordinary women to give up beloved children while
risking life and limb? How could they charm battle-hardened soldiers into divulging crucial military plans on one day, and then withstand personal loss and danger the next? Be transported into the real-life world of two legendary women warriors who changed the course of the American Civil War—and our future—forever.

Review

This title, a hybrid of historical fiction and romance novel, will appeal to those who seek an introduction to the world of female spies during the Civil War.

Pamela Bauer Mueller draws from a variety of sources and relates an interesting and essentially accurate rendition of two attractive young women, a Northerner and a Southerner, who engage in espionage to further their respective causes.

The author includes an extensive resource list for further investigation. The research is thorough, and the writing is brisk. --Thomas J. Ryan, December 2015 Civil War News

The truth that the subject of American History is not well-covered in our public schools is a known fact. So there is much value in a novel that sheds light on a major episode of our history that tested, sculpted and defined our countries backbone- the Civil War.

The Dancing Delilahs, shines a light on two lesser known female spies of the Civil War, hailing from opposite sides of the North/South divide. It is written simply with a young female audience in mind, infused with both their emotional response to the plaguing disruptions the war wreaked on their young lives as well as the selfless efforts they made to help the military of their respective allegiance win the ebb and flow of each skirmish.

Pamela Mueller does not tackle the bigger issues of war, of who is right or wrong in the issue of slavery, or get into the weeds of each battle. Rather, she chronicles the collision of war into two families and two communities, one in Southern Fairfax County Virginia, and the other in the Louisville Kentucky region. And most notably the constant shifting of the line in the sand of who controlled the frontline of the real estate of both. For the waves of foreign soldiers commandeering properties was a constantly changing tide, literally from week to week. One day you could be feeding and housing the brass of your enemy and the next tending to the wounded of your brethren in your own living room.

The book has alternating chapters following the escapades of both heroines, Antonia Ford from the Confederate South and Pauline Cushman of the Federalist North. It is written in a first person diary style of passages during two of the most heated and decisive battle years of the Civil War, 1861-1863. For the reader, that format does break the flow of the storyline of each woman, but it also makes the point that in many ways their tales are parallel. The depth of their allegiances drove them to daring lengths, even risking their lives, to uncover and deliver crucial information on the enemies whereabouts or their secret battle plans. Whether it was tidbits that literally fell into their lap through overheard conversations, or detailed plans obtained through more subversive clandestine actions, their harvest was passed onto elite military of such powerful ilk as General Beauregard, General "Stonewall" Jackson, General Lee, and the elusive Mosby's Rangers.

Both women paid the heavy price of painful stints of imprisonment, and each managed to make use of soliciting the endearments of male officers to help them survive any unpleasantries, enabling them to live to tell the tales.

Antonia shared in the penchant of the southern woman with selfless efforts in tending to not only the wounded of their beloved grey-coats, but also the northern enemy soldiers being housed in their area. The author lathered on a generous helping of the civility, in dialogue and deed, that the Southerners maintained in dealing with their occupiers.

Pauline played a more calculated role. Impressively she managed to pass herself off as a traitor to the north, the whole plan orchestrated by Federalist officials, while moving amongst the southern loyalists, for which she could have received an academy award. In the end, she was bestowed the honorary title of Army "Major" supported by President Lincoln himself, proving the importance of her activities.

Both heroines used their attractive feminine qualities in aiding their cause and a good part of the story is relegated to the love lives of the two extremely charming woman.

The fact that the book is based on the true story of these two female Civil War spies gives it credence and value in opening the young adult audience to the unique and valued role women played in our country's history. It certainly has set me off to do more research on the subject. --Karen Chutsky, February 2016 Midwest Book Review

Female Civil War Spies Come to Life in 'Dancing Delilahs'
By Peggy J. Shaw
Those who enjoy American history know the men of the Civil War, men such as the elusive John Mosby, who captured a U.S. general with a handful of Confederates and became known as The Gray Ghost. William Tecumseh Sherman, who marched to the sea and then offered the City of Savannah to Lincoln as Christmas present. And Ulysses S. Grant, who divided the Confederacy with the capture of Vicksburg, and then forced Lee’s surrender at Appomattox.

Women’s contributions during the Civil War, however, have been less renowned—until now.

In her new book, The Dancing Delilahs, Pamela Bauer Mueller brings to life two women who operated as real-life Civil War spies. Mueller, an award-winning author of several nonfiction novels, weaves together tales of adventure, romance, and mystery into a book told through the unique voices of two, courageous women: Antonia Ford and Pauline Cushman. The result is a compelling story of the Civil War from the female point of view.

Mueller, in fact, tells the women’s stories through Ford and Cushman’s own voices, an accomplishment made possible by the author’s meticulous research into primary source materials, such as letters and diaries. The resulting material gives readers insight into the women’s Civil War work, as well as their families, their loves, and their daily lives.

“I want my readers to think about their private relationships, their intimate lives, and even their sufferings,” Mueller wrote in her Author’s Note.

Actress Pauline Cushman, a widow and mother, was arrested by Union troops after she gave toasted the Confederacy during a play, though her gesture was a ruse. And Antonia Lord was living the quiet life of a Virginia socialite when she overheard secrets about troop movements that could be relayed to Confederate Gen. J.E.B. Stuart.

“Their choices would reshape their futures,” Mueller wrote in her Author’s Note to The Dancing Delilahs. Indeed, those choices did. And what happens next, as the women’s futures unfold, is what makes the book so interesting.

Readers who love history and biography will enjoy this spy thriller set largely between 1861–1865, during America’s most divisive time. “I have always been captivated by history—its broad sweep and its intimate corners,” Mueller wrote. “And I especially love to discover women who are edgy, salty and somewhat eccentric.

“History is a connection between the present and the past,” she added, “and sometimes the voices we want to hear are barely audible.”

The 19th-century voices of Cushman and Lord, however, are now finally being heard—loud and clear, for the first time—and the result is an entertaining and informative ride.

Pamela Bauer Mueller’s other works include: Splendid Isolation: The Jekyll Island Millionaire’s Club 1888-1942, a fictionalized account of the wealthy elite who once vacationed at Jekyll Island, Ga.; Water To My Soul: The Story of Eliza Lucas Pinckney, set in South Carolina; and Lady Unveiled, a sweeping historical saga about the life of Catharine Greene Miller.

History, Conflicts, Spies, Oh my!
By Doc
Here Pam has given us a not often seen glimpse into our nation's Civil War. Much has been written about the horrors and hardships of battles fought by patriotic men of the Union and Confederacy, but here we are transported into the lives of two women, equally dedicated to their respective causes. They were both spies! Each was gifted with different skills from very different upbringings, that enabled them to accomplish their dangerous tasks. The wise reader knows that wars are fought and won not only on the fields of battle, but via logistics and gathering of intelligence as well. Pauline and Antonia became immersed into the world of wartime subterfuge and each was very successful at their tasks. Home front and battle front are described accurately in fine detail. Personal sacrifice marks the character of each woman. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this tale of two woman warriors as they use beauty and brains to aid their respective causes. Find a comfortable chair and read on!

As seen on the 2015 A&E TV Series CURSED: THE BELL WITCH Special guests - Dr. Sue Clifton and Sara Dulaney Pugh

SARA DULANEY PUGH is a young Christian woman who has been seeing and speaking to the dead since she was three-years-old. As she grew older, Sara's difference frightened her, making her think she was a “devil child.” But God sent blue bubbles to comfort her and her bubbles follow her even today.

In May 2015, Sara comforted her grandfather by acknowledging she also saw his mother and son, both passed, when they appeared in his hospital room. It was then she realized her own “seeing” was God given. Sara openly accepted her gift and the responsibilities attached and became ANGEL LEIGH.

ANGEL LEIGH explains, “I am a messenger, not a medium. I do not seek the dead; the dead seek me. My duty is to bring peace and closure to those left grieving by giving them messages from their loved ones passed.”

But can Angel Leigh contact souls and solve mysteries of legends still haunting family descendants centuries after the events happened? Angel Leigh proves this is possible when she connects with the souls from the early 1800's in Tennessee, and discloses the truth never told behind the BELL WITCH LEGEND.

Angel Leigh is REAL!
By Dr. Sue
Is it appropriate for an author to write a raving review of a book she has written? It is...but only, if the review is for the life the book represents. Angel Leigh is the most intriguing person I have ever met, and I know I have been blessed by knowing her. If you want a blessing, read this book...not to improve my rankings but to offer yourself a blessing and to know without a doubt, MIRACLES HAPPEN! When one of my children, grands, or my husband give me cause to worry, I pray to my Heavenly Father first for their protection, and then I call Sara to see if she senses anything. Sara is REAL! Sara is GOD SENT!

Spellbinding! This book will change your outlook on the hereafter and on your own life.
By Roni Adams
Amazing! I watched Sara on the series "Cursed, the Bell Witch" which ran on A&E a few months ago. A friend of mine suggested I'd enjoy it and I did. I reached out to Sara via her Facebook page. At her invitation, I sent her a photo of my dad who had passed two years ago. Without any other information, Sara made an amazing and beautiful connection with him and delivered the message to me. She was so spot on with everything she said from him. For the first Christmas since he passed, I found myself enjoying the holiday once more. I can't explain to anyone who hasn't lost a parent, whether you are an adult or not, the feeling of loss you experience. The dark cloud that has hovered over me since his death was finally lifted and I believe with my heart and soul it was because of the message I received through Sara that allowed me to feel joy once more.

This book gave so many more details about the program I watched as well as Sara's gift and her lifelong journey to accept it and figure out why she was chosen to have it is so well done, you won't want to put it down. This book helps believers and nonbelievers alike understand there is more out there than here in the physical world and its a beautiful beautiful thing. I can't recommend this book enough and if I could give it 10 stars I would. Thank you Dr. Sue Clifton for bringing this amazing woman's gift to everyone to learn about. Thank you Sara for helping Dad reach me and make the sun shine once more.

There is a second book coming out and I will be first in line to purchase it and will purchase several copies for friends.

Sword of State: The Tempering, by Richard Woodman

The year is 1652.

General George Monck has been through an awful lot since he sat as a prisoner in the Tower of London eight years before.

He had led his men admirably through campaigns in Ireland and Scotland, but still storm clouds surround his future.

Six months ago Monck’s life had been put in peril as he underwent the agonies of the spotted-fever.

He had been away from his beloved Anne for many months and had come to London to find whether Ratsford – who had abandoned Anne some four years earlier after robbing her of her life’s savings – was alive and still proving to be an obstacle to their proposed marriage or dead.

Now rumours were surfacing that the increasing difficulties with the Dutch were most likely to lead to war, thus creating a further obstacle to Monck’s matrimonial intentions.

But the soldier in Monck would never stand down from the call of duty.

His life with Anne will have to wait as Parliament and the Army Council require the general’s artillery expertise as naval conflict with the Dutch becomes inevitable.

Will the great general find his sea legs and overcome his greatest challenge yet?

In The Tempering, the second book in the Sword of the State trilogy, award-winning author Richard Woodman recreates the true story of George Monck, a giant of the 17th Century. Monck is all but forgotten today, yet his legacy is nothing less than the British monarchy and a famous regiment – the Coldstream Guards.

Captain Richard Martin Woodman LVO is an English novelist and naval historian who retired in 1997 from a 37 year nautical career, mainly working for Trinity House, to write full-time. His main work is 14 volumes about the career of Nathaniel Drinkwater, and shorter series about James Dunbar and William Kite, but he also written a range of factual books about 18th century and WW2 history.

Woodman is a master story teller, and he conveys the drama of this very complex historical period with ease. The Tempering is tantalisingly short, leaving the reader wanting more, quickly. Hurry, Richard!
